While at the CityLit Festival, I met a writer named Devlon Waddell, who wrote a short story collection called, “Syrup Sandwich.” When I read the title, I immediately yelled out, “Hey! I used to eat syrup sandwiches with King syrup.” A conversation began that had us reminiscing about how wonderful syrup sandwiches tasted. His book drew a lot of attention, because it seems that everyone ate syrup sandwiches when they were young. I’ve read a few of the stories and they are just as filling as syrup sandwiches.
