Right now I am feeling as blessed and happy as anyone in the world. People are really loving In the Mirror. I don’t even know what to say. When you are alone in your room, writing until you are falling asleep at the computer, you hope but don’t really believe that people will like what you write. You know you like it, but you’re never sure if people will get it. Well, the folk that are reading In the Mirror are getting it. And best of all, they are telling other folks so they can get it too.
I received an e-mail from Sophia at The Book Escape. She said that several people have come in requesting my first novel, Water In A Broken Glass. I stopped by today and dropped off Mirror, because I stupidly forgot to order more copies of Water. Well, she posted on The Book Escape’s Facebook Page that she had 3 copies of Mirror. Come and get ’em. And the next thing I knew, she posted, One down.
An author couldn’t ask for a better response from her hometown than I’m getting right now. It is wonderful. My friends are telling people on the subway about the book. They are telling their friends, and their friends are telling their friends. It’s amazing.
The other cool thing is people are truly enjoying the story. They are e-mailing me about scenes and music and places in the book. They are stopping me and telling about their experiences. I am just in awe of the great response this book is getting.
All I can say is thank you for supporting me and letting me know I got it right. Baltimore is making its author feel great.
