Guess what, y’all!
Filming for Water started about three weeks ago. And let me tell you, it has been an amazing experience. When I wrote Water In A Broken Glass over sixteen years ago, I never thought this would be happening. I dreamed about it, wished for it. But I don’t think I ever believed it would really happen. Or maybe I did and that’s why God let it be.
Where should I start. Okay, first, in case you don’t know, Water the film is directed by Jamelle Williams-Thomas. She is a DC based filmmaker and owner of Lodge Street films. Jamelle contacted me back in 2009 and asked for the rights to turn Water In A Broken Glass into a film. So, it’s been a long process, some ups and down, but here we are some six years later and Lodge Street Films along with IKam Productions are in Baltimore shooting this film.
Baltimore. My city. All my novels take place in Baltimore, because I love showing the side of Baltimore people rarely focus on. And don’t think the characters in my stories don’t have any problems. They have plenty. They just have something other than drugs and killing on their minds. Baltimore is way richer than that. So it’s cool going to different areas of Baltimore filming. So far Jamelle and her film crew have filmed on the campus of Morgan State University, at The Book Escape on Light Street, Whitelock Street, Nubohemia Café and Lounge on Biddle Street, in the Arts District on Guilford Avenue, Druid Park Lake Drive. They are truly doing Baltimore justice.
I will try to write something every day about the making of Water. Next I’ll talk about the cast and crew. Stay tuned. Love you for all the support y’all have given me over the years.
