I had one of the best times at the Baltimore Book Festival on Sunday. I met a lot of talented authors and a bunch of excited readers, who were looking for the next book that will keep them reading through the night.
The new cover for In The Mirror was a big hit. Readers could not resist picking the book up and once they read the synopsis, they couldn’t leave without buying it. So, once again I want to thank Tyrone Wilkens, Toni Belafonte, Lauren Smith, and Malcolm Blackman for helping me reshoot the cover. It is a beautiful thing.
So below are so highlights from the festival. On my Facebook page, are interviews of several authors, who were gracious enough to allow me to Go Live so I could share their work with my friends and family, who, by the way, were super, super supportive and came out to get their copy of In The Mirror. I thank all of you from the bottom of my heart. Happy Reading 🙂
Look what arrived just in time for my appearance at The Baltimore Book Festival. The official rerelease of In the Mirror is Friday, September 29, 2017, but if you come to the Book Festival, you will be able to get a copy and start reading about Jasmine Falls and what she does to get proof that her boyfriend is not in love with his wife.
I will be at the book festival on Sunday, September 24th with the Black Writers’ Guild of Maryland from 3 pm to 7 pm. I hope to see you there.
As always, thank you all for your support. It is truly appreciated.
Check out the trailer for In the Mirror, which will be re-released September 29, 2017.
Okay, y’all. After weeks of working with Createspace in trying to get the new cover for In the Mirror correct, and learning all there is to know about RGB and CMYK, I finally have a proof of In the Mirror with a cover I can live with. So, I want to thank everyone who helped me in the redesign of this amazing cover, starting with the very talented Tyrone Wilkens who took the photograph; the beautiful Toni Belafonte, Lauren Smith, and the handsome Malcolm Blackman for agreein…g to be on the cover; Victoria Valentine http://www.victoriavalentine.com/pageandcoverdesign/ of for her wonderful design; the great filmmaker Teresa Davis for allowing us to use her beautiful bed; and Devin FlyGuy Ricks, Kirby Griffin, Leonard Coleman, Jamelle Williams-Thomas, Symora Thomas, and last but not least, my wonderful, supportive husband, Michael, who does any and everything he can to support me. I can’t do anything of this with Michael, y’all So I hope you like the cover as much as I do. In the Mirror will be re-released in the next two weeks. Be on the look out. Thanks for all the support y’all always give me.
For the last few months, I’ve been working feverishly to re-release my novel, In The Mirror. It’s been a challenge because I am determined to produce a great story, inside and out. Meaning, I want the cover and interior to be awesome. I’ve been working with some wonderful people. Natalie Stokes-Peters has been formatting the interior. I wrote In the Mirror using Word. Natalie uses InDesign. The two programs did not mesh well at all. In reading the book, I found over 700 edits that Natalie had to address. That took a lot of time.
The cover is another thing that has taken a lot of time. More time than I expected. We shot the cover in April. Here is the link to the behind the scenes of the cover shoot. https://youtu.be/XN0QZ2Jt3nU
Well, we have a beautiful cover. The only problem is the digital version looks great, but the physical copy prints too dark. The main character, Jasmine, can be seen, although not at vibrant as the digital version, and the two other characters, Daniel and Regina, are hardly visible at all. So I am working hard to get it right.
My hope is that I’ll have it correct before the Baltimore Book Festival.
🙂 Happy Reading.
I had the wonderful opportunity of being interviewed by Joey Pinkney. Thank you so much, Joey, for the support you give authors. Click on the link for my interview. Happy Reading
