I met a wondefully supportive woman named Jody at the subway on my way to work a little over a week ago. She bought In the Mirror and recommended it to her friends and encouraged them to buy the book, which they did. The other morning, Jody stopped me and it was obvious that she devoured In the Mirror. She absolutely loved the novel. She talked about the scenes in great detail and what was really striking is she got all the points the book was trying to make. She even loved the ending, which has a lot of people have been getting on me about. Not because they didn’t like it, but because they want to know what happens afterwards. They want a sequel. Jody said if I had ended it any other way, it would have been just your average book that she could have written. So all around In the Mirror is getting raved reviews. I can’t say how great this makes me feel!

Believe it or not, but I’ve been selling In the Mirror and Water In A Broken Glass on the subway on my way to work in the morning. The support and response to In the Mirror has been wonderful. I appreciate all the people who have bought the book. Authors really need you. And the feedback is awesome.
So thanks everyone!!
What’s Happening?

A lot of good things are going on right now. First, I’m in the process of editing my third novel, Kizmic’s Journey. I got the idea for this book when my first novel, Water In A Broken Glass was published. I’ve been working on it off and on. I love this story. This is my baby. I think people will enjoy it. I have an artist working on the cover. Hopefully that will be completed by mid April.
Second, there is a very engaging discussion about Water In A Broken Glass on Facebook. Author Kat Williams is moderating the event, which will continue through the month of March. I’ve never participated in a book discussion online before. It is fabulous. I feel like I’m back in graduate school studying someone else’s work. I never dreamed that people would love Water as much as they do. I certainly never dreamed that someone would think that much of the book that they would devote an entire month to chat about it. I am truly honored. And the comments that are coming up are very insightful. They are not simply talking about Water, but they are talking about their own lives and their struggles with accepting their homosexuality. The conversation let’s me know that I got something right in the book. The other thing that’s really great is that people love the characters. I was hoping that they would, especially Satin. I wasn’t sure how she would go over with people. I think she is absoultely my favorite character.
Third, The Reginald F. Lewis Museum chose In the Mirror for its May Book-of-the-Month! This is such an honor. I can’t believe they picked it. But I will be there on Saturday, May 19th. I’m not sure of the time yet. I’ll also be at the 2nd Annual Urban Lit Festival. That was such a big event last year. I know this year is going to be even bigger. CityLit Festival is coming up as well. This will be my third year attending. I love this festival because it’s held in one of my favorite places–the Enoch Pratt Free Library. I love the library. I know that e-readers are the wave of the future, but I love going to the library and looking at and holding books in my hand. And as always I will be at the Black Writers Guild of Maryland on the first Saturday of every month at Sojourner Douglass College.
Well, that’s what’s happening for now. I hope to see you at one of the events.

I had a wonderful holiday. And now I am ready to get back to work. In the Mirror is still doing well. People a loving the story. I’m glad because I was a little worried that people wouldn’t like it. Now it’s time to switch gears and work on Kizmic’s Journey. This is my baby. I love this story. I hope everyone will as well.
