In Baltimore, we played a game called Four Square or Block Ball, depending on what side of the city you lived. I grew up in northwest Baltimore, and we called it Four Square. I got together with my friends and family to relive our childhood playing this wonderful game. When people see us playing this game, they say it brings back wonderful memories. That’s what Kizmic’s Journey will do–bring back all those beautiful childhood memories.
Baltimore author, Chris Hicks, chats about his latest contribution to the literary scene in Baltimore. Tune in Tuesday nights at 9 on Channel 75 Comcast To See What’s Good In Your Baltimore Neighborhood.
Below is another A Few Minutes On Writing. This post talks about the self-doubt that most authors are afflicted with from time to time. I’m sure almost every author has heard the story about Stephen King and how after writing Carrie, he threw it in the trash and his wife retrieved it. Self-doubt causes more authors to throw their writing careers away than anything.
I’m back with another episode of A Few Minutes On Writing. Check it out as I give you the latest on my writing, events, This Is Baltimore, Too, Odessa Rose Presents The Pitch, and the new What Authors Do When Wednesday. As always, thanks for the support.
Writer Vickie Oliver-Lawson took time out of her busy life to write this sweet article about me. I want to thank Vickie for describing my writing journey so wonderfully. I felt like I was reading about someone else. Please check out this article and the many others Vickie has written.
I just launched a new site for authors to spread the word about their books. It’s called Odessa Rose Presents ThePitch. Check it out and be sure to read the submissions guidelines so you can pitch your book. I have a bunch more video pitches to add. I’m so excited. I can’t wait to hear your pitch.
This past August, I had the opportunity to participate in a wonderful literary event entitled The Literary and Literacy Exchange Event. It was organized by Brian Neal of the Maryland Department of Human Resources. The purpose of the event is to promote literacy and provide local authors with a platform to promote their work and greet and meet readers. I want to thank Brian Neal for the fantastic job he did organizing the event and thank everyone who supported it.
Fiction, Horror, and Romance Writers, I have created a site for you! It’s called Odessa Rose Presents The Pitch, and it’s designed to give you a platform to read and discuss your work. I love hearing authors read and talk about their stor…ies. Booktrailers are good, but listening to authors explain how a story came about, how they developed a character, how the came up with a particular voice, read a scene from their books so readers get a true understanding of the themes, having writers tell who they are as writers, and why they write is just exciting and motivating.
So, Odessa Rose Presents The Pitch is a collection of authors reading and discussing their work and themselves. It’s easy to be included in this fine group of writers. All you have to do is send me an email and I’ll give you the submission guidelines.
I can’t wait to see your pitch!
As always, Happy Reading and Writing.
A beautiful woman named Melissa Bigmomma Smith-Jenkins did the In The Mirror Challenge. And she had a ball with it.
I don’t usually do challenges but I accepted this one, Odessa Rose I hope I got this right… This is a mirror challenge, what do you see when you look in the mirror? your true and inner self, not how others see you, but how you see yourself. I challenge you to take this challenge if you dare… Lol God Bless — feeling blessed.
