Water and the Hampden Branch Library
I had the most marvelous time at the Hampden Branch of the Enoch Pratt Free Library. Devon, the branch manager, set up a theme in the library based on black art and water, including bottles of water from all over the world. It was one of the coolest things anyone has ever done for a discussion about Water in a Broken Glass. Speaking of discussion, it was so awesome. Everyone really enjoyed the characters, the art in the book, and the way Baltimore is represented. Devon appreciated the mention of the Pratt Library in the book. If you have a chance, please visit the library. It’s small but so adorable. You will love it.
I thank the Hampden Branch for having me and all the people who came out to support me, which includes my mama and my husband, Michael.
Here are a few pictures. Enjoy.

Page Turners Book Signing
I had the most marvelous time at my book signing for the Page Turners Book Club. It was held at the Woodlawn Library and boy when I say they pulled out all the stops, I mean they pulled out all the stops for me as an author. Delicious food, great crowd, insightful conversation about the book, and even a replica of the broken glass on the cover of Water In A Broken Glass, created by Rosa Stone. That was simply amazing that she did that. Also, I want to give a shout out to some of my fellow authors who came out to support me and the Page Turners: Rosa Griffin, Wilma Brockington-Parker, and Leroy McKenzie. Every author should be spoiled in the way the Page Turners spoiled me. They are truly an awesome book club. Thank you so much.

A Few Minutes On Writing — Self-doubt
Hello!
Below is another A Few Minutes On Writing. This post talks about the self-doubt that most authors are afflicted with from time to time. I’m sure almost every author has heard the story about Stephen King and how after writing Carrie, he threw it in the trash and his wife retrieved it. Self-doubt causes more authors to throw their writing careers away than anything.

My Writing Journey
Here is my 2nd video journaling my Writing Journey.
Baltimore Book Festival
This weekend Baltimore held its annual Baltimore Book Festival. From Friday, September 26th through Sunday, September 28th, readers and writers came together to share their love of books. Since its inception, the festival has been held at Mount Vernon, but it was moved to the Inner Harbor because the Washington Monument is being restored. The new location was okay, but it was a bit spread out. I personally like the Mount Vernon location. Other than that, I had a grand time. I had Water In A Broken Glass and In The Mirror on the table. Readers loved them both. I met some new writers, and I hung out with my friends from the Black Writers Guild. It was a great weekend.

This wonderful author helped to write one of my favorite movies, the original Night of the Living Dead.
In The Mirror Challenge
Great author and publisher, Devlon Waddell did the In The Mirror Challenge.
Answering the question what does he see in the mirror, Delvon wrote, “I see dead people.” Don’t mind him. He’s crazy. LOL

In The Mirror Challenge
I accept my In The Mirror Challenge.
I look in the mirror and see me being happy despite all the things in the world that can make you want to cry instead of smile. I see a woman who loves her life. Who sees and understands just how richly blessed she is. I see a woman full of hopes and dreams. I see me.
Poster for 347 Club
I phoned Ronald, owner of the Club 347, and I explained that his club is featured in In The Mirror. He asked why, and I told him because his club is very popular in Baltimore City. Everyone who is serious about music goes there. And since one of the characters plays the trumpet, I thought it would be special to have him play at 347.
I asked Ronald if I could place some flyers 347 to promote In The Mirror, and he said I could bring 2 posters! I was so shocked and happy. I told him that I would stop by and bring the poster, as well as a signed copy of In The Mirror for him. The only problem was, I didn’t have a poster. I had a little brochure that I’ve been passing out. They aren’t even in color, because my budget is so slim that I can only afford color for my press packets. So are the struggles of an author. But that doesn’t mean I will not get the poster. I designed one using Powerpoint, a picture of the cover, and a photo our daughter, Nina, took of me while we were at Cylburn Auboretum videotaping her dolls for another video for her Doll City channel. (By the way, she is getting so good at making those movies.)
Anyway, here’s what I came up with. I put it on my Facebook page and everyone loved it. I’m proud of it myself. I plan to have it posted inside club 347 by the end of the week.
